Glan Y Gors Lithographic print: Wilf Roberts
Wilf Roberts limited edition signed lithographic print
Wilf Roberts was invited to the Curwen Studio in Linton, Cambridge in 2008/2009
and under the guidance of Master Print Maker, Stanley Jones RA, MBE, created this
print “Glan y Gors”.
The print was a limited edition of 95 and produced on high quality 100% cotton
paper after which the plates were destroyed thus ensuring a truly limited edition.
Curwen Studio: The lithographic process
Lithography is a pantographic form of printing. Lithography depends on the interaction of two incompatible substances, grease and water, on a prepared flat surface. The means of making marks on the plates is very similar to those used for drawing.
Once the artist has completed the drawing, the prints are created on presses where an alternate use of damping and inking ensures that only the artist's drawn image receives the application of ink which, when printed on suitable paper, provides the lithographic print. The choice and number of colours available in the printing process is unlimited, giving greater flexibility to the artist.
Prints should be kept away from windows and direct sunlight.
